Biography

Before joining HonoHealth as the Director of Vascular Neurology, Dr. Wang was the Co-Director of the Petznick Stroke Center at Barrow Neurological Institute and Interim Director of Stroke Fellowship Program. From 1995-2019, he built the second Joint Commission certified CSC in Peoria, Ill., the OSF Stroke Center and Network.

Dr. Wang has conducted over 50 clinical trials in stroke in his career and published over 100 papers in peer reviewed journals. He was the Chair of the Stroke Section of American Academy of Neurology from 2017-2019, and Chair of the AAN Quality and Patient Safety Subcommittee from 2015-2018. Dr. Wang is a graduate of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He did his Neurology Residency at Henry Ford Hospital, and Creighton University/University of Nebraska. He was one of the last stroke fellows trained by the late Clark Millikan, the founder of American Stroke Association and Stroke journal.

Dr. Wang currently is in his 10th year as the Deputy Chief Editor and General Manager of the journal Stroke & Vascular Neurology (IF4.9), the official English journal for the Chinese Stroke Association. He was a co-author of the 2013 AHA/ASA Acute Ischemic Stroke Management Guideline, 2019 and 2022 Chinese Stroke Association Stroke Care Guideline, and the corresponding author of the current online British Medical Association acute stroke care guideline.

Research Interests & Focus

Dr. Wang has participated in Phase I, II, III and IV trials in the area of cerebrovascular diseases, its diagnosis, reperfusion, prevention and recovery at HonorHealth Research Institute.
