Biography

Dr. Yassin is a graduate of the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, Iraq. He trained at Baghdad University Medical Center before moving to the U.S. and obtaining an internal medicine certification, following training at State University of New York, where he also trained in General Cardiology.

He trained in interventional and structural Cardiology at New York University, Winthrop Campus, before moving to Phoenix and starting his career with Arizona cardiology group as well as faculty interventional and structural cardiologist at Creighton University at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. He was a key member of the group that established the general cardiology fellowship at Saint Joseph’s Hospital prior to moving to Banner University Medical Center-Phoenix and serving as an interventional and structural cardiologist, as well as program director for interventional and structural fellowship.

He has been an interventional and structural cardiologist at HonorHealth since August 2015.

Dr. Yassin’s main interest is in valvular heart disease and has been an investigator in multiple clinical trials involving aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve replacements and repairs, with special interest in congenital heart disease, predominantly ASD VSD PFO closures as well as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

He established a pulmonary valve replacement program at HonorHealth; the first adult service to have a comprehensive pulmonary valve replacement program in Arizona with access to all FDA approved devices.

Research Interests & Focus

Dr. Yassin’s primary interests are in clinical trials, and interventional and structural cardiology.
Over the past decade he has participated as a Principal Investigator and as sub-investigator in multiple clinical trials in interventional and structural cardiology.
