Biography

Dr. Barletta is a tenured Professor and Vice Chair of Pharmacy Practice at Midwestern University, College of Pharmacy-Glendale. He has over 25 years of experience as a critical care clinician, and currently practices at HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Medical Center in Phoenix as a member of the trauma/surgical ICU team. Prior to joining MWU, Dr. Barletta was a clinical specialist in surgical critical care at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Mich., and at Detroit Receiving Hospital in Detroit, Mich. Dr. Barletta has authored more than 130 peer reviewed manuscripts and textbook chapters and is co-editor of a textbook entitled, “Drug-Induced Complications in the Critically Ill Patient: A Guide for Recognition and Treatment.” He is recognized as a Fellow in the American College of Critical Care Medicine (F.C.C.M.), and a Fellow in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (F.C.C.P.). Dr. Barletta is highly engaged in critical care professional organizations serving as a member of Council for the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), a past-Chair of the Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology Section of SCCM, a past member of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), Critical Care Specialty Board and an inaugural member of the Executive Committee for the Critical Care Pharmacotherapy Trials Network.

Research Interests & Focus

Dr. Jeffrey F. Barletta’s research interests are centered around pragmatic studies, evaluating outcomes with drug therapy in critically ill or injured patients. He is also involved in the creation of national evidence-based guidelines using GRADE methodology.
