Biography

Dr. Khoury received his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Irvine. During his undergraduate studies, he was heavily involved in basic science research, evaluating various proteins leading to neurodegenerative diseases. He attended medical school at the University of Southern California, where he was again involved in basic science research, evaluating various components of the immune system and their role in the development of malignancies.

Dr. Khoury conducted his General Surgery training at the University of Texas, Southwestern. During his training, he received a T32 grant at the University of Wisconsin where he studied the role of cell death in the development of aortic aneurysms. During his time in Wisconsin, Dr. Khoury received training in statistics and published multiple papers regarding outcomes following aortic repair.

Dr. Khoury went on to Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he completed his Vascular Surgery fellowship. He is now a Vascular Surgeon at HonorHealth Heart and is the Director of Clinical Outcomes.

Research Interests & Focus

Dr. Mitri K. Khoury’s primary focus of research is outcomes following both open and endovascular aortic repair.
He has been heavily involved in the Vascular Quality Initiative and has published multiple papers especially those defining fitness for open surgery. He has also published several papers looking at outcomes following complex endovascular aortic repair, many of which have been presented nationally.
Dr. Khoury also collaborates with several institutions, performing complex aortic repairs to better understand and evaluate current and upcoming devices. Dr. Khoury is involved in multiple clinical trials, demonstrating his commitment to research.
