Question: How long have you been with HonorHealth?

Answer: I have been connected to HonorHealth for much of my career. I first worked with the organization from 2006-2014 in physician coding, education and ending up in trauma reimbursement. After spending the past 11 years in orthopedic trauma operations I returned to HonorHealth.

Q: At what point in your early life did you decide you wanted to go into a career in research?

A: My path into research was not something I had planned early on in my career, but rather something I grew into through my work in healthcare operations. Throughout my career while working in physician coding and then in trauma reimbursement, I developed a deep appreciation for how clinical data, documentation and care delivery all intersect to improve patient outcomes.  I became interested in the operational side of healthcare and how systems can be designed to support both providers and patients.

Q: What is a work-related accomplishment you are proud of?

A: I am proud to have strengthened operational workflows within the Oncology Trials clinic, enhancing support for our patients and care teams while positioning the program for strategic growth. Over the past year we have standardized processes, improved communication between departments, and by leveraging our systems more effectively we have been able to improve scheduling workflows, increase front end collections and create more reliable processes for managing patients.

Q: Why is it so important to encourage younger and diverse groups to pursue a career in research?

A: I believe research should reflect the communities we serve, including the younger population, especially as we are seeing more young adults diagnosed with cancer. When folks of all ages and backgrounds are represented, we gain diverse perspectives that lead to better questions, better solutions, and ultimately better patient outcomes.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?

A: What motivates me in this role is knowing that behind every process improvement or operational change I make effects a patient whose care experience with HonorHealth can be smoother, more efficient and more supportive. Being part of HonorHealth, who is committed to improving patient outcomes and experience makes my work especially meaningful.
