Senior Clinical Trial Operation Specialist
Elisa Dye is a lifelong learner in the field of medical research. She started as a budget negotiator on the HonorHealth Research Institute clinical trials operations team and quickly transitioned into her current role as a senior clinical trial operation specialist.
“I learned about research after six years of working at an ophthalmology and optometry practice,” said Dye, who believes that research holds the key to personal and professional growth. “I was then offered an opportunity to become a clinical research coordinator for retinal research, then moved into doing OBGYN.”
Dye exemplifies the different avenues that research can take. Initially aspiring to be a doctor, she pursued an MBA in healthcare administration, discovering her true passion for patient care and education. While she has since moved into business operations, she notes that, “Research offers knowledge and growth opportunities for anyone.”
While she maintains that “getting into the weeds” is a weakness, any role she transitions into is one that she will give her all.
“I do research online,” she explained. “I find seminars, courses, continuing education I can seek out to help me grasp all the bits and pieces.”
From El Paso, Texas, Dye acknowledged the challenges faced by young minorities when it comes to accessing educational opportunities. Reflecting on her own experience: “It’s just the goal to leave high school, you know, learning about what type of grants and scholarships you can get if you’re not in sports or academically excelling,” adding, “somebody out there, who is graduating high school, can enter research at an entry level and find encouragement to keep learning.”
Driven by a profound understanding of the importance of research, Elisa asserts the need for continuous learning in healthcare.
“We need to learn more about diseases, progression, and preventative healthcare,” said Dye, who champions equitable access to resources and opportunities, ensuring that all individuals can grow personally and professionally.
