Question: How long have you been with HonorHealth?

Answer: A total of 7 years; 3 years in HonorHealth Research Institute and 4 years in the Patient Financial Services on the Hospital Billing Division.

Q: At what point in your early life did you decide you wanted to go into a career in research?

A: I didn’t know anything about research until I came across a job posting for a finance role at HonorHealth Research Institute. That’s when I became curious about the industry and wanted to know more. I was intrigued enough to apply, hoping to build something meaningful, a career that felt rewarding and gave me a sense of purpose. That opportunity opened the door to a completely new path and helped me see my career in a whole new light. Since then, I’ve learned that research is a challenging field, but I’ve also discovered how much I enjoy it. I’m learning something new almost every day and truly value every opportunity to grow and explore more.

Q: What is a work-related accomplishment you are proud of?

A: One work-related accomplishment I’m proud of is stepping into a completely new field and quickly adapting. When I joined HonorHealth Research Institute as a Staff Accountant, I had no background in research. But I took the initiative to learn, asked questions, and made the most of every opportunity to grow. Over time, I became more confident in my understanding of the research process and how my role contributes to the bigger picture. It’s been rewarding to see how far I’ve come and to know that my work contributes to something impactful.

Q: Why is it so important to encourage younger and diverse groups to pursue a career in research?

A: Having younger and more diverse groups in research means bringing together people with different backgrounds and experiences, which leads to richer ideas and more creative thinking. It also helps generate solutions that include more voices and perspectives, encourages deeper and more relevant questions, and supports research that better engages a broader community. It also strengthens our ability to adapt to and advance research on a global scale, ensuring that the work we do is relevant, inclusive, and forward-thinking worldwide.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?

A: One thing I’d like to share is how open I am to learning and growing in new environments. I never expected to find myself in the research field, but I’ve embraced the journey with curiosity and a willingness to step outside my comfort zone. I’ve learned that sometimes the most rewarding paths are the ones you didn’t plan for. I’m excited to keep building on what I’ve learned and to continue contributing in meaningful ways.
