Charting new frontiers in Parkinson’s research: Kristy Osgood
At HonorHealth Research Institute, Kristy Osgood, DPM, MPH, CRCIII, stands as a trailblazer, having contributed significantly over the past two years to Parkinson’s disease research.
For Osgood, the path to a career in research was illuminated during her residency.
“During residency, being the first at implementing new therapies for rare conditions or difficult-to-treat conditions was fulfilling,” she said.
One of her notable accomplishments was the initiation of the first research program tailored for HonorHealth’s Parkinson’s population. This accomplishment not only underscores her commitment to advancing patient care, but also highlights her innovative approach to addressing the unique needs of the Parkinson’s community.
Osgood’s dedication extends beyond the research realm. She serves as an adjunct professor for Grand Canyon University (GCU), sharing her expertise with students in the College of Nursing, Public Health, and Health Administration. This dual role reflects her commitment to both hands-on research and nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
In emphasizing the importance of encouraging younger and diverse groups to pursue research careers, Osgood aligns with the overarching goal of improving patient care.
“As with all professions, improving the care that is given to patients is important,” says Osgood, stressing the constant need for enhancing current standards, and reinforcing how research offers an avenue for continuous improvement.
