Research Compliance Specialist
Question: How long have you been with HonorHealth?
Answer: Since June 2023.
Q: At what point in your early life did you decide you wanted to go into a career in research?
A: I fell into the healthcare industry. I went to undergrad at the University of Utah and had a friend who worked for the University of Utah Hospital and Clinics. I wanted a better paying job, with benefits, and that friend referred me to work in Orthopedics, as a Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy aide. Once I started that job, I realized how much I loved working in healthcare and advocating for patients, to help them navigate through their healthcare journey. Since then, I have worked in Bone Marrow Transplant, Genetics, Business Services, Oncology, and Women’s Health and have research and leadership experience in those areas as well. I love working in research because the advancement in healthcare research gives patients more options for their care!
Q: What is a work-related accomplishment you are proud of?
A: Being able to work with all departments that touch research to give better quality care for patients has made me the proudest. Simply bringing groups of people together at work, to collaborate and create more efficient processes, both clinically and administratively. I really try to create an inclusive and safe work environment, where crucial conversations can happen and issues can be resolved, without judgement.
Q: Why is it so important to encourage younger and diverse groups to pursue a career in research?
A: We all bring something different to the table! The more well-rounded and diverse our organization is, the better. Diversity allows us to see multiple perspectives of problems and solutions, that we may not have seen otherwise. With broader representation, our organization creates better patient outcomes, a stronger workforce, and a healthier community!
Q: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself?
A: Other than work, I spend my time traveling the world with my husband, hanging out with our Miniature Schnauzer Winspierre, visiting family and friends, and staying active in the gym or hiking.
