A Message From Our Program Leader
In our interventional gastroenterology program, we are committed to supporting patients through evidence-based care and ongoing clinical research. Our focus extends beyond treatment. We actively investigate novel therapies for complex gastrointestinal conditions, including pancreatic cancer, metabolic disease, GERD, and benign strictures. By participating in cutting-edge clinical trials, we continue to explore new diseases and emerging treatment options, ensuring our patients have access to the most advanced and personalized care available.
About Our Program
Our interventional gastroenterology program is deeply committed to advancing the field through both practice and research. With specialized expertise in diseases of the pancreas and biliary system, as well as gastrointestinal malignancies, we provide comprehensive care that spans prevention, diagnostics, and therapeutic intervention. Procedures such as endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound, bariatric endoscopy, endoscopic tissue resection, and endoscopic management of acid reflux and obesity are routinely performed, with a focus on precision and patient-centered outcomes.
Our research portfolio includes pivotal studies investigating novel therapies for pancreatic cancer, obesity, type 2 diabetes, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and benign gastrointestinal strictures. These trials explore the safety and efficacy of innovative interventions such as intratumoral radiation emitters combined with chemotherapy, gastric balloon systems paired with lifestyle modification, duodenal mucosal resurfacing for metabolic disease, and drug-coated balloon technologies for esophageal and bowel strictures. Additionally, we are evaluating endoscopic strategies for long-term weight maintenance following pharmacologic weight loss.
We operate within a multidisciplinary framework, collaborating closely with surgical teams, metabolic and weight management specialists, and oncology research teams. This integrated approach allows us to develop individualized treatment plans that reflect the latest evidence and technological advancements in gastrointestinal care.
Interventional Gastroenterology Facts and Figures
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has emerged as a key tool in pancreatic cancer care, enabling precise diagnosis and minimally invasive therapies that improve staging and symptom management.
