A Message From Our Leader
The Discovery Lab bridges fundamental science and clinical application. We advance biomarkers and NAMs technologies — organoids, organ-on-chip systems, AI-driven modeling, and next-generation diagnostics — to accelerate therapies and improve patient outcomes.
About our Program
The Discovery Lab advances next-generation translational bioengineering to shorten the path from discovery to patient care. Led by Frederic Zenhausern, Ph.D., MBA, a senior scientist at the Research Institute, the program integrates organ-on-chip systems, precision diagnostics, and scalable biomedical platforms to create human-relevant models that improve therapeutic development and clinical decision-making.
The Lab is dedicated to developing deployable, clinically meaningful technologies that enhance predictive accuracy, support personalized treatment strategies, and reduce time to impact. By aligning engineering innovation with real-world healthcare needs, the Discovery Lab enables faster, more reliable translation of scientific breakthroughs into patient-ready solutions.
Through close collaboration with clinicians and academic partners — including the University of Arizona’s Center for Applied Nanobioscience and Medicine at the College of Medicine–Phoenix — the lab connects discovery science with bedside application.
