Biography

Álvaro Calderon Verdugo is a Clinical Data Abstractor I with a strong background in clinical data coordination and patient-centered care. In his current role, Álvaro applies his clinical training and analytical skills to abstract and audit patient records for clinical registries, ensuring compliance with standards of care, regulatory requirements, and sponsor expectations. He plays a key role in identifying data trends, variances and outliers, contributing to quality improvement and operational efficiency.

Prior to this role, Álvaro served as a Clinical Data Coordinator II at HonorHealth Research Institute, where he managed data for Phase I–IV trials and early detection studies. His work involved close collaboration with oncology research staff, finance teams, and regulatory departments to ensure accurate data reporting and study compliance. He also mentored new staff and supported cross-functional teams in achieving study milestones.

Álvaro holds a Bachelor of Arts in English (Linguistics) from Arizona State University, along with a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certificate. He also participated in a study abroad program at the University of Oxford, and earned an Associate in Arts from Mesa Community College.
