Biography

With more than 16 years’ experience in multimedia journalism, Megan Guthrie has held various influential positions in higher education and healthcare, highlighting her expertise in communications, brand and community engagement. Megan comes from the University of Arizona where she led communications and public affairs for the University of Arizona Cancer Center. Megan is credited with advancing internal and external messaging to convey the Cancer Center’s mission, while ensuring efforts comply with brand guidelines. In 2022, she led communications efforts for the center’s status as a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and the corresponding five-year Cancer Center Support Grant renewal. Prior to joining the University of Arizona, Megan’s health coverage of armless rider Jessica Cox, participating in El Tour de Tucson, received a Mark of Excellence, Society of Professional Journalists, TV & Feature Reporting Finalist Award. In 2022, the Communications and Community Relations operational division was established, and Megan joined the HonorHealth Research Institute as the Director of Communications and Community Relations. Megan holds a master’s degree in mass communications, with a specialization in business and economic principles of Journalism, from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. At the Cronkite School commencement, she was presented with the Most Outstanding Graduate Student Award. In May 2023, she completed an Executive MBA from the University of Arizona Eller College of Management, underscoring her dedication to continuous learning and professional growth. Accolades included receiving the “Eller Way – Integrity” award in 2023 for leading the Eller Way by doing the right thing 100% of the time.
