Biography

Sue Derbyshire, R.N., BSN, is a registered nurse who for more than 40 years has provided care for patients, families and communities. In addition to leadership in hospital and outpatient nursing, Sue has worked for 5 years as a Career and Technical Educator in the Peoria Unified District, and for 3.5 years as an Executive Director at a nonprofit in California.

For the past 18 years, Sue has worked as a Cardiovascular Research Nurse.

Sue is very involved in HonorHealth’s Health Literacy Committee, teaching Health Literacy communications to new BSN nursing graduates employed at the Research Institute. She is involved in hospital activities that encourage nurses to work with patients to help understand their health care. Along with others, she was published in a Health Literacy Poster at an HonorHealth Symposium.

Over Sue’s career, she has been passionate to help patients and staff understand and be engaged in their health care.
